Staying Organized...
So what happens when the person who handles the majority of the responsibilities of the homestead goes down?
It's probably not something most of us have thought about- until it happens to you and your homestead, then it is full panic mode to figure out what absolutely needs to be done and what can wait. And depending on the situation, it may be waiting a while.
Last Thursday I went to our local nursery to purchase a few starter plants because life has been busy and I haven't had time to seed everything I am wanting to put in the fall garden. I knew I was scheduled for a routine medical procedure on Friday and figured I'd get them in the ground on Saturday. You know the saying- Just when you make plans. Needless to say, those plants made it into the ground this morning.
I highly encourage everyone to keep a Homestead/ Farm/ Family binder. Don't just keep one, live by one. I have had one for a while now and just haven't been the best at keeping it updated. But this past week has reminded me the importance of keeping records and how to's in case they are ever needed by someone else to help you on your homestead. Otherwise, you'll find yourself in my shoes- running around like crazy on the first day I feel well to try and get caught up on all the chores.
I will update mine and upload some pictures of it in a future blog. Who knows who may find it helpful.
