Stepping back...

It's  been an exciting week here on the Smallstead. We have new chicks in, a new coop built, new brooder boxes built and a weekend of fun was had.

We went and got new chicks from a local place. Can't say that I would go back but that is just a personal preference and not ment to be disrespectful. I have certain standards I hold myself to and I can't say that other people do.

We moved the chicken coop and built new fencing for them. Hopefully they will like their new home and set up. I think they will but you just never know until you get them all settled in. I spent the time to build new permantent brooder boxes. I just need to get them a top built.

We ended the weekend with Supercross and crawfish. Our family is the MOST important thing to me. We have worked hard over the years to cultivate a home of love and honesty. I want my kids to always know that mom and dad will always be there for them. We took the time to get away from the Smallstead on Saturday night to go to Supercross. It was a great time and did my heart some good to watch my little (who isn't so little anymore) have  great time. It is a conscious effort on my part to step away. I am on the farm everyday, working with the animals and tending to the land. I have to be very conscious to take time away and reset myself. My husband says that he gets to go to work and come home everyday, I went to work one day and stayed. It does get consuming sometimes. So I encourage anyone who is a homesteader, farmer or who works at home to take the step away. Enjoy time with your family and loved ones. I will never tell you that you shouldn't be busy... just sometimes being busy loving the ones around you is enough.

Yall stay busy! ~Dey
